About Me
Education-wise, I have an MMus in Music Technology & Computer Music (2008, distinction) and a BA in Music (2007, 1st-class), both from the University of Leeds. My A-Levels were in Maths (A), Physics (A) and Computing (A).
Work-wise, In addition to my freelance web development business, I was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Leeds during the 2008–09 year, delivering and supervising 1st- and 2nd-year undergraduate classes in Music Technology (Max/MSP, Cubase & Audition).
I have grade 8 piano, play a little bit of saxophone, and last year picked up a melodeon to learn (slowly). I’ve just about got the basics sorted, and now need to find some folk sessions to go along to!
Slow pace, fast work
I live and work in a sleepy little seaside village called Sandgate, near Folkestone, on the south coast of England.
I studied and worked up in Leeds, West Yorkshire for nearly six years, but have returned to the quiet little corner of the country from whence I came, for now…
My desk can be found on the top floor of a wonderfully-wonky old building on the beach, where I can listen to the waves all day long.
I’m a passionate advocate of everyday utility cycling, and use my bicycle instead of a car—you’d be amazed at how much I can carry back from the supermarket in my panniers!
I also love cycle touring, and every once in a while set off on my bike at half three in the morning—after a can of cold beans for breakfast—in search of a sunrise. I’ve been on a few 200km day trips into the countryside, and some longer multi-day rides, including one down to Paris.
